Atlantic Provinces Library Association Conference

June 10-13th, 2009 at the Marriott Halifax Harbourfront Hotel

Dear Colleagues

[Version Française]

On behalf of the Atlantic Provinces Library Association (APLA) Executive and the APLA 2009 Conference Planning Committee, I am pleased to invite you to attend the annual APLA Conference to be held at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel, June 10-13, 2009.

Sharing – The Library Experience is this year’s conference theme.  Sharing success stories, best practices, new technologies, and innovations is exactly what we intend to do at APLA 2009.   We are pleased to welcome this year’s keynote speaker, veteran broadcaster and award-winning documentarist Paul Kennedy, who fosters the sharing of contemporary thought on CBC Radio’s Ideas, which he has hosted since 1999.

From social cataloguing to plain language writing, from the next generation of web technologies to literacy based storytimes, this wide range of programs balances the cutting edge with the practical, and is sure to satisfy the diverse needs of conference delegates.  We anticipate a dynamic trade show with up to 50 exhibitors participating.  You will be able to take advantage of our superb location in the heart of downtown Halifax, only steps away from the city's top attractions, shops and restaurants.

We look forward to you joining us in Halifax in June - see you there!

Debbie Costelo
Chair, APLA 2009 Conference Planning Committee
