Description

Storytime programmes are a means of strengthening children's listening and speaking skills. Children hear stories, identify patterns and repetition in rhymes, and use basic language to communicate comprehension. These are all crucial skills in preparing children to read and write, and are the basics of a typical storytime.  Why stop there?  With a few minor modifications, our programmes can easily include the visuals of alphabet letters and simple words.  When we pair sound and letter recognition, the association between speaking, reading and writing becomes much more evident.  Children who are able to internalize phonemic awareness and the alphabetic principle at a young age are much better prepared when they do begin the transition from non-reader to reader.
