Thursday - Day 1- Sessions

Description

Sponsored by the New Brunswick Public Library Service / Service des bibliothèques publiques du Nouveau-Brunswick

The session will explore the value of integrating virtual library services and web 2.0 technologies with more traditional library programming using a case study approach. Library programs held at the Fredericton Public Library (York Library Region, NB) will be used as discussion examples. Online author chats for teens, organized by Leslie Cockburn, Young Adult & Adult Services Coordinator, and hosted by the Teen Summer Club (TeenSRC) website will illustrate how successful online events can be organized simultaneously with corresponding in-library audiences. The children’s program Fiction Factor, developed by Loralie Boyle, Library Assistant, will show how in-house programming can find a “second life” online with YouTube. Session participants will gain a practical knowledge of organizing an online author chat and guidelines for posting library projects to Youtube.
