In 2008 the Robertson Library received a private donation “to develop a rich repository of the history of the people of Prince Edward Island”. The first phase of the project is the digitization of all of the published community histories on Prince Edward Island. This session will present some of the practical challenges and opportunities a project like IslandLives represents.  If you’ve completed or are considering a digitization project we can share experiences. I’ll discuss various facets of the project including: our experiences contacting rightsholders and obtaining permissions, workflows we’ve developed around digitization, metadata used for the project, the technical infrastructure developed for the project and some of the project’s innovative outcomes.
